Dual Pricing for Credit Card Processing
Show customers a cash price and a card price, and offset what your business pays to accept cards. We program your equipment so both prices are clear at checkout.
How Dual Pricing Works
Every item has two prices. Your customer chooses how to pay, and the price follows.

Reduce Credit Card Processing Costs
The card price includes the cost of accepting cards, so card payments help cover their own processing costs. Many businesses use dual pricing to offset most or all of what they used to pay in card fees each month.
The result depends on your mix of cash and card sales, your average ticket and how you set your prices. We run the numbers with you before you switch, so you know what to expect.
Cash Price vs. Card Price
A simple example with a $50.00 cash price and a 3% card price adjustment.
| Cash price | Card price | |
|---|---|---|
| What the customer sees | $50.00 | $51.50 |
| What the customer pays | $50.00 in cash | $51.50 by card |
| Processing cost to your business | None | Offset by the card price |
Example only. Your card price and program terms are set up with you and depend on your business.

Dual Pricing FAQs
Is dual pricing the same as a surcharge?
No. With dual pricing, every item has a cash price and a card price, and both are shown up front. A surcharge is a fee added to a card payment at checkout. The rules for each are different, and we set your program up to follow card brand requirements.
Is dual pricing allowed in my state?
Cash discount and dual pricing programs are used by businesses across the U.S. Rules for surcharging vary by state. Your specialist will walk through the requirements that apply to your business and set up your signage and receipts to match.
Will I need new equipment?
Not always. Many current terminals and POS systems can be reprogrammed for dual pricing. If your equipment can’t show both prices, we’ll recommend options, including placement programs for eligible businesses.
How do customers react?
Most customers are used to seeing cash and card prices at gas stations and restaurants. Clear signage and both prices on the receipt keep checkout simple.
How much could I save?
It depends on your sales mix and average ticket. Send us a recent statement and we’ll show you the numbers before you decide.
